book review. haha.
haven't written anything for ages but here i am. :)
the book sounds cool, interesting really because i have heard or read something to do with cults and stuff in america and these kind of things are supposedly very very common over there. there was one where the guy had many 'wives' or something like that and when the police came to bust the cult, he either blew up the entire house with don't know how many people inside or set fire to it. can't really recall now, but i think i heard of it somewhere, can't be my imagination can it.
therefore, sher, i want to read it. :)
i read finish a book too that has nothing to do with GP and haven't even got one form the GP book list. bah. the book i read was 'the sculptors' by suzanne glass. it is an intriguing book about this girl from isreal and became a plastic surgeon in chicago. she had run away from her life in isreal because she couldn't stand being pampered and under the strict guidance of her painter-father. she had been given a special post in the isreali army, an officer, because she was a child prodigy, a child artist. she ran away to chicago where her mother was from at 20 and lived there in near solitude. mentally alone mostly.
she gave up art altogether, keeping away from anything to do with art but something hit her when she watched an art film and she went to look at art galleries in chicago and then fell in love with a sculpture. that made her look for the artist and they fell in love eventually. he helped her get back in touch with art again and she changed quite a lot. throughout the book, their lives in the past would be featured to explain why they are this way and what events had changed their lives. very interesting. then the girl had to do a total face restructuring in order to hide the indentity of another woman for her safety because she was witness to a crime and the girl got the sculptor[boyfriend] to help restructure. after the surgery, she realised that he had restructured her face to look like his daughter that died young and could not give up, she felt cheated and made use off and she returned to isreal.
in isreal, she started painting again and returned to her kibbutz to look for her father and found out that he had painted many pictures of her in order to keep her with him. this way, she understood why her boyfriend had sculpted so many spcultors of his daughter and why he had made the woman look like his daughter. the last chapter was damn cool. sigh. just a typical happy ending with a twist. the girl had a daughter and married the sculptor and she and her father patched things up and lived happily ever after.
of course there was way more to the story. its really nice. loved it. dont know if you guys would. but just ask me if you want to read it. now, i've got to get started on the GP books. sighh.
oh. ya. the sleepover. hello people. we need to discuss it!!
